Searching a Domain Name

For a business, a domain name can become a valuable piece of intellectual property. Think of e-bay or amazon. But before using a domain name, you should do some research to make sure no-one else is using a similar domain name for similar services. This could lead to problems.

One way is to do by doing it yourself through domain name searches using search engines, such as google, yahoo, etc. You should do the advanced searches, and use wild cards, etc. to cover as many likely variants as possible. Similarly, be sure all the top-level and country domains you are interested in are covered.

You can also have someone else do it for you. Again, you can go to your favourite search engine to find an appropriate service. We also provide a value-added service for domain name searches. Our service includes the following:

  1. search of over 25 major domains, including .com, .ed, and major country domains. Please click here for a more complete listing
  2. search for 'sound-alikes'
  3. priorize and return 50 top matches

Our charge for this search is $50 CDN + GST (if applicable). Please click here for the order form.
